Quick Chat With Aaron Goldman

Aaron Goldman joined GEOG as the financial research coordinator in August 2023. A native of Silver Spring, Maryland, he brings a strong background in accounting and finance—and a lifelong love of numbers—to his role. 

What do you like most about your role?  

I've always enjoyed playing with numbers since I was a kid. I have always had a knack for mental math and this led me to pursue an undergrad in accounting and a master's degree in finance. 

This role allows me to manage multiple projects that act like a puzzle of numbers. Each individual decision feeds into the larger funding picture and is contantly evolving. Also, the people in GEOG are awesome!  

How would you explain your role in one sentence? 

 I am a fiscal manager for over 40 awards and am responsible for a portolfio of 10+ PIs or prospective PIs. 

What’s a pet peeve you have at work?

 People who "Reply All" to blast emails! (in certain situations).

What do you do to help you recharge?

I play with/snuggle with my dog, Buffy!

Anything else you would like people to know about you?

My favorite hobby is playing poker and our bid for a house was just accepted!
